Spill-Resistant Pressure Vacuum Breaker Backflow Prevention Device Assembly – Typical Installations

The SRPVB is used indoors for supply water to laboratories, research facilities, supermarket vegetable misting and location where backpressure is not an issue or water spillage. The SRPVB shall be installed vertically upright and plumb, accessible for testing and repair, protected from weather, vandalism or theft, installed in high visibility areas, and protect against freezing. SRPVB shall not be installed in pits or vaults. To operate properly the air inlet should be no be obstructed. SRPVB shall be installed to allow atmospheric pressure to enter the bonnet unobstructed. The SRVB is used to isolate a cross-connection that are considered high hazard systems. The SRPVB is not designed to be installed on water service lines as a containment backflow prevention device assembly because the SRPVB is not designed for backpressure conditions, which could occur on service lines. The SRPVB shall not be installed where toxic fumes may enter the air inlet valve during a backsiphonage event.
