The Principle Operation of an Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker Backflow Prevention Device – Pressure Loss – Dynamic State
The AVB is designed to provide high water flow with minimal pressure loss. The maximum allowable pressure loss at any flow rate is 24 psi for ¼ inch; 22 psi for 3/8 inch; 20 psi for ¾ inch; 18 psi for 1 inch and 1 ¼ inch; 16 psi for 1 ½ inch, 2 and 2 ½ inch; and 15 psi for 3 inch AVBs.
